Von der Leyen Hails 'Strategic' Relations with Egypt

Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Egypt's Ambassador to Belgium presented on Saturday, his credentials to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

At the outset of the meeting, European Commission President was keen to convey her greetings to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, appreciating strategic relations with Egypt.

Moreover, she added that the development witnessed by relations between both sides was reflected in the high-level mutual visits, including, the President of the European Commission's visit to Egypt in mid-June, during which the memorandum of understanding  (MoU) for tripartite cooperation between Egypt, the European Union (EU), and Israel in the gas export field was signed, in addition to Von der Leyen's participation in COP27 climate change conference in Sharm El-Sheikh, alongside the President of the European Council.

In addition, the European official highlighted the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU) on renewable hydrogen on the sidelines of the COP27 climate change conference.

Moreover, the meeting underlined Egypt's vital regional role in enhancing security and stability in a region rife with conflicts.
