President Abdel Fattah El Sisi discussed on Sunday with the visiting CEO of Vodafone Group Nick Read and Vodafone Egypt's Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Abdallah cooperation between the group and Egypt’s IT and communications sector, according to Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.
Sisi told Read that Cairo is seeking fruitful and constructive cooperation with global companies that have long experience in different fields, affirming those companies are seen as development partners.
During the meeting, Sisi focused on efforts to boost Vodafone investments in Egypt, given the company’s great expertise in the fields of communications and digital transformation.
"Egypt is seeking to benefit from Vodafone’s know-how in terms of managing facilities and new cities, which are key factors in the government’s plan to go digital and achieve comprehensive development," Rady quoted Sisi as having said.
Read was delighted with the comprehensive development process in Egypt, saying the huge national projects have positively affected the investment climate in Egypt, believing this should encourage Vodafone to further expand in Egypt.
"Indeed, Egypt is a major communication and IT market in the region," he pointed out, noting this contributes to achieving sustainable development and upgrading the system of services offered to citizens.
Read told Sisi Vodafone is working to launch a pilot operation of its 5G technology in the New Administrative Capital because of its advanced infrastructure.
