Violent Clashes Resemble Warfare Between Police. Demonstrators against Immigrants in UK

The British newspaper "The Independent" highlighted the disturbances and violent clashes that broke out between demonstrators outside a hotel that provides shelter for asylum seekers in Merseyside, England.

The British newspaper said that a police car caught fire, and officers were thrown with flaming grenades.

Three people were arrested on suspicion of violence, following clashes between pro- and anti-immigrant groups near the Hotel Suts on Friday evening.

Merseyside Police said they were initially dealing with a peaceful protest and counter-protest outside the hotel before some of those presents started throwing projectiles.

Claire Mosley, of the refugee charity Care for Calais, said she was among 100 to 120 people from pro-migrant groups who went to the hotel after hearing there was a protest against asylum seekers.

Mosley, 52, who founded the charity in 2015, said the scenes that followed were "really horrific" and left her worried for the safety of asylum seekers.
