The Ministry of Health of Vietnam has granted permission for the sale of a Russian-made anti-cancer medicine containing the active ingredient pembrolizumab. This was reported by the Vietnam News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

A total of 14 vaccines and biological products have been approved for circulation over the next three years. The active ingredient is used to treat more than 14 types of cancer, including melanoma, lung, cervical, breast, bowel, and kidney cancers.

Vietnamese doctors describe cancer as one of the most serious and widespread health challenges of modern times. In 2022, 180,480 new cases were recorded across the country. The most common forms are breast, liver, lung and colorectal cancers.

Modern methods of cancer treatment in Vietnam include surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy. In all treatment protocols, next-generation medicines such as pembrolizumab play an important role.
