Video: Denmark's Queen Margrethe II Signs Abdication Document

Moments ago, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, officially, signed the document of the abdication, passing the throne to her eldest son Frederik, who will be known as King Frederik X.

In addition, King Frederik signed the papers to be the new king of Denmark in the presence of his mother. 

The Queen and the members of the Danish Royal Family arrived at Christiansborg to witness the historic moment.

Queen Margrethe is the first Danish monarch to abdicate the throne in 900 years.

After signing the papers, Queen Margrethe departed the palace, left the cabinet to announce the beginning of King Frederik X era.
