Ahmed Al-Fedawy, the founder of the "Street Paramedic" initiative and a cardiothoracic surgery male nurse at Kasr Al-Ainy Hospital, said that dry drowning means the entry of fluids into the lungs and alveoli while swimming or being in the water.

These fluids cause breathing to stop and thus the heart muscle to stop. Your baby's vocal cords spasm and close, and this causes the airways to close, making breathing difficult.

Al-Fedawi added that at the beginning of inflicting symptoms of dry drowning, we must not be lenient with anyone who develops these symptoms of a cold two or three days after getting out of the water, so we must consult a doctor to examine the patient, and take the necessary first aid.

And as for the symptoms of dry drowning, can include (coughing - chest pain - difficulty breathing - feeling very tired), not only that, the child may also experience changes in behavior such as irritability or low energy levels, which may mean that the brain is not getting enough oxygen.

Al-Fedawi indicated that parents should contact a doctor immediately if their child suffers from any breathing problems after getting out of the water, although the symptoms may disappear on their own in most cases, it is important to examine them, and usually, any problems that appear can be treated if prompt medical care is available.

To prevent this, you should always be close to your child in the water, do not leave him alone, watch him well, and also do not leave him in the water alone, even in your home.
