Veteran Egyptian actress, Laila Taher announced Tuesday that she had retired from acting.

In 2014, the actress starred in her last acting role in the fourth season of the TV series "El Bab fil Bab".

In a phone-in with "Al Kahera W Al Nas" TV channel, Taher disclosed that she decided to retire to devote herself to her family.

"I am now devoted to my family and close to them and my friends," she noted.

Taher explained that she retired out of respect for herself and her fans, noting: "I do not work to get money,".

She affirmed that her decision to retire is final and irreversible.

Taher also opened up about the reason behind not taking part in any artistic work in the past years.

The 79-year-old star shared that the roles that were presented to her did not suit her, noting the history she made is enough, and there was no need for her to star in any work just to be present.

"I am satisfied with what I presented in my history. I respected my fans and what I did was sufficient." she noted.
