Venezuela has accused the United States of carrying out extrajudicial executions after US forces attacked a boat in the Caribbean that was reportedly sailing from Venezuela towards the United States with drugs on board.

Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello said that US forces killed 11 people without due process and described the action as unacceptable. He argued that suspicions of drug trafficking do not justify executions at sea and criticized Washington for failing to provide clear explanations.

The incident followed an announcement by former US President Donald Trump that American forces had intercepted a drug-laden vessel in the Caribbean, killing 11 individuals allegedly linked to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s government.

The raid represents a significant escalation since Trump signed an executive order authorizing the military to take direct action against drug cartels. Washington has repeatedly accused Maduro of running a narcotics trafficking network and recently doubled its reward for his capture to 50 million dollars.

Maduro has warned of potential US military landings and pledged that Venezuela is prepared to defend its national territory through armed resistance if necessary. While Washington has not issued an explicit threat of invasion, tensions remain high.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reinforced Trump’s stance, stating that the administration was determined to use the full strength of the United States to dismantle drug cartels regardless of where they operate.
