On Wednesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed Russia's appreciation for the Vatican's efforts to help resolve the Ukrainian crisis, and confirmed the arrival of a papal envoy to Moscow for peace talks.
According to ASharq news website, the spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said, "We highly appreciate the efforts and initiatives of the Vatican, and we welcome the Pope's aspiration to contribute to ending the armed conflict (in Ukraine)."
He said Putin's foreign affairs adviser would hold talks with Cardinal Matteo Zubi, envoy appointed by Pope Francis to Ukraine, at Putin's request.
