Vatican Ambassador to Egypt S.Ecc. Nicolas Théverin alongside Belarus Ambassador Sergei Terentiev inaugurated an exhibition of potters in the village of Garagos, one of the villages of Qena Governorate.

Garagos is famous for its handicrafts of ceramics and carpets.

The event took place at the premises of the Cordi Jesu Roman Catholic Church in Cairo.

President of the Arab Society for Graduates of Russian Universities and Director of Cultural Activity at the Russian Center Sherif Gad and Belarusian Chancellor Marina Sheviliova attended the inauguration of the exhibition.

The Media Specialist of the annual exhibition Said Yonis and the organizers of the event took the high-ranking delegation on an inside tour to help them figure the art show all out.

Meanwhile, there was a really informative documentary about the history of the village of Garagos, which was founded by the architectural artist Hassan Fathy in 1953, at the exhibition.

After that, Théverin, Sheviliova, and Gad also admired the fascinating works and the displayed hand-made carpets as well as the iconic pottery that reflect the legacy of Qena’s culture and heritage in the exhibition hall.

Similarly, Terentiev praised the stunning artworks of the participants and their skills, expressing his readiness and willingness to pay a personal visit to the exhibition again.

The ceremony also featured the participation of numerous pottery manufacturers and artists from Qena.

It's worth mentioning that the village works are inspired by the Upper Egyptians environment, until their fame has reached global horizons when lovers of their arts and works visited the renowned village, such as the King and Queen of Sweden, and other international artists.

The Garagos pottery exhibition is running till Saturday, December 18, at the premises of the Cordi Jesu Roman Catholic Church Cairo, Abdel-Khalek Tharwat Street, Downtown.
