US Vice President JD Vance is expected to depart for Islamabad today, Tuesday, to conduct negotiations with Iran regarding a potential deal to end the war, three US sources told Axios.
Vance will arrive in the Pakistani capital as the current ceasefire nears its end, while President Donald Trump has threatened to strike Iranian bridges and power plants if an agreement is not reached.
Vance is also expected to be accompanied by Washington’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
While reaching a comprehensive agreement within such a tight timeframe remains difficult, President Trump may agree to extend the deadline if there are clear signs of progress.
