The agreement between the United States and Iran is expected to be signed tomorrow, Sunday, by US Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, with Geneva emerging as the likely venue, Reuters reported, citing informed sources.

Regarding the terms of the agreement, Reuters stated that the draft clauses include Washington initiating the release of billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets and lifting sanctions on Iranian oil exports in exchange for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

The sources added that Iran's nuclear program will be negotiated during a 60-day talks period, noting that the proposals also include discussing potential reparations to Iran for the war, and dropping long-standing US demands for restrictions on Iran's missile program.

Conversely, a US official denied the accuracy of these proposals to Reuters, asserting that "no funds will be released to Iran until it implements the terms of the agreement." The official added that the Strait of Hormuz will remain open and that Iran will not provide any funding to groups designated by Washington as terrorist organizations, maintaining that Tehran has agreed to this.

Meanwhile, a senior Israeli official stated that Israel expects to retain freedom of action to counter what it deems threats to its security.

For his part, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the final agreed text of a peace agreement between Iran and the United States has been finalized, and that Islamabad is working with both sides to complete the next steps.

In a post on X, Sharif said that "peace has never been as close as it is now," referring to Pakistan's mediation role between Tehran and Washington, which has been interpreted as a remarkable diplomatic breakthrough in the trajectory of the anticipated understanding.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States consists of 14 clauses so far, representing the first phase of negotiations that will last for 60 days to discuss contentious issues, including the nuclear file.

He emphasized that ending the war under the MoU also means the withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied Lebanese territories.

At the same time, Araghchi warned that if the counterpart fails to fulfill its commitments outlined in the memorandum of understanding within the 60-day period, negotiations regarding the remaining issues will not move forward.
