On Sunday, Minister of Health Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar launched the national campaign of vaccination against polio. The campaign will last until Wednesday.

Abdel Ghaffar pointed out that the campaign targets vaccinating all children aged between a day to five years in Egypt to keep Egypt a polio-free country.

The campaign aims to strengthen children’s immunity against the virus and keep Egypt poliomyelitis-free.

All children between a day and five years old are included in the campaign, regardless of their nationality.

90 thousand medical troops are dedicated to the campaign across all of Egypt, alongside the primary medical teams of the ministry, and the staff of all governmental medical spots and administrations across the country.

All medical teams will knock on the doors of all homes, and habitats in distant villages from 8 am to 5 pm.

Moreover, they will check all targeted children in markets, major squares, bus and railway stations, underground stations, mosques, churches, and trade centers.

The campaign targets more than 16 million children nationwide.

The final polio infection was recorded in Egypt in 2004, before announcing that the country is polio in 2006.
