In a critical meeting focused on progressing hydropower initiatives and ensuring the stability of the energy system for the upcoming autumn and winter months, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev dedicated a portion of the discussion to the escalating Middle East crisis—a situation capturing the attention and concern of the international community.

President Mirziyoyev gravely addressed the intensifying armed conflict between Israel and Hamas, highlighting the resultant humanitarian catastrophe and the immense suffering it has inflicted upon innocent civilians, with children and women bearing the brunt of the devastation. He expressed, “The tragic loss of life, displacement, and agony experienced by the peaceful populace cannot be ignored. Our thoughts are with them, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to every affected family in both Palestine and Israel.”

Uzbekistan is taking actionable steps to alleviate the crisis, with President Mirziyoyev announcing a substantial donation of $1,500,000 to the United Nations Middle East Agency, aimed directly at delivering vital humanitarian aid to the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip. “Our nation stands resolutely with the Palestinian people. We champion their undeniable right to form an independent state, adhering to the previously established resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly and the Security Council,” he declared.

The president issued a stark warning about the potential for violence to spiral out of control, leading to a comprehensive destabilization of international peace and drawing additional entities into the conflict. He underscored the urgency of the situation, stating, “This volatile scenario could usher in unforeseen and far-reaching tragedies, not just confined to the Middle East but extending to nations across the globe. Hence, it is of paramount importance for all involved parties to initiate immediate compromise on humanitarian grounds, cease all forms of aggression, and pursue a peaceful resolution to this conflict.”

Reflecting on the Central Asian region’s longstanding tradition of peaceful cohabitation among diverse ethnic and religious groups, President Mirziyoyev emphasized the centuries-old amity and unity between Muslims, Christians, and Jews. He utilized this moment to address his fellow citizens, particularly the youth, urging them to resist deceptive propaganda and refrain from participating in unlawful activities.

In his concluding remarks, President Mirziyoyev highlighted the imperative of preserving peace, fostering unity, and strengthening solidarity. “These are our greatest assets, our most invaluable treasures. Upholding our tranquil way of life and maintaining our collective sense of unity is a duty we all share,” he remarked.
