The upcoming 43rd session of the UNESCO General Assembly will be hosted in Samarkand in 2025, as confirmed by the Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the ongoing 42nd General Assembly session in Paris, France, Uzbekistan's proposal to hold the next session in Samarkand was endorsed, marking the first time in over four decades that a UNESCO General Assembly meeting will take place outside of Paris.
This decision is hailed as a significant diplomatic achievement, with President of the 42nd session, Simona-Mirela Miculescu, affirming its importance.
Founded in 1945 and headquartered in Paris, UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, boasts a membership of 193 countries.
