Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated on Wednesday his Azerbaijan counterpart Ilham Aliyev on restoring Nagorno-Karabakh territories.

Addressing the informal Summit of the Cooperation Council of the Turkic-Speaking States (Turkic Council) via video conference, Mirziyoyev said, "I once again congratulate the President of Azerbaijan, dear Ilham Heydarovich Aliyev, and the Azerbaijani people on the return of the territories of Nagorno-Karabakh and the restoration of historical justice."

He also added that Uzbekistan is ready to contribute to the restoration of ancient monuments, objects of culture, and education on the land of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev also delivered a speech at the Summit.

Other participants in the event include the first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan-Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of Turkmenistan Gurbangulu Berdimuhamedov, Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, Secretary-General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev.

It is worth mentioning that, earlier this month, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia signed an agreement to end the military conflict over the disputed enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh.

It follows six weeks of fighting between Azerbaijan and ethnic Armenians.
