U.S. Embassy Cairo partnered with College Board to launch a college admissions training program for more than 50 Egyptian high school counselors.
The training is designed to strengthen advising skills, expand counselors’ knowledge of international college admission systems and the SAT, and support student readiness for global higher education opportunities.
U.S. Embassy Cultural Attache Mary-Katherine Ream highlighted the training’s positive impact on the U.S.-Egypt relationship in higher education, saying, “This training reflects the United States’ strong commitment to expanding access to high-quality education opportunities for Egyptian students, and strengthening educational partnerships between the United States and Egypt.
The return of the SAT to Egypt in June 2025 helped open doors for talented students and reinforced the global reputation of U.S. education as a pathway to opportunity and innovation.”
The Cairo-based training program supports the continued expansion of SAT testing in Egypt, while increasing awareness of U.S. college readiness standards and internationally recognized testing systems.
The training also builds on sustained engagement between the U.S. Embassy Cairo’s Public Diplomacy Section and Egypt’s Ministry of Education and Technical Education, which helped facilitate the return of digital SAT testing to Egypt in June 2025.
Recognized by universities across the United States and many institutions internationally, the SAT is a globally trusted academic credential and is designed to assess students’ readiness for college-level academic work.
The agreement between College Board and the Ministry of Education and Technical Education restored an important pathway for students in Egypt to study in the United States while supporting the expansion of a major U.S. educational organization into a market of more than 10 million university-aged individuals.
This initiative reinforces long-term U.S.-Egypt educational cooperation, supports American educational organizations expanding their presence in Egypt, and strengthens partnerships that benefit students, educators, and higher education institutions in both countries.
College Board is an American mission-driven, not-for-profit organization serving millions of students worldwide through programs such as the SAT, Advanced
Placement (AP), and BigFuture, working to expand access to higher education and strengthen college readiness globally.
