Samantha Power, Administrator of United States Agency for International Development (USAID), stressed the necessity of protecting civilians in the Gaza Strip, even if Hamas elements are hiding in schools.
In a post on the social media platform X on Sunday, Power wrote, "Civilians in Gaza must be protected, even if Hamas hides in schools."
The U.S. official reaffirmed continued pressure on Israel to make greater efforts to prevent civilian casualties.
Power expressed her sadness over reports of civilian casualties among Palestinians in another airstrike by Israeli forces on a school and shelter in Gaza.
It is worth mentioning that over 100 Palestinians were killed and dozens were injured early Saturday in an Israeli airstrike targeting a school housing displaced persons in the Al-Daraj neighborhood of eastern Gaza City.
