The United States of America (USA) announced a virtual international summit on Corona on May 12, according to urgent news broadcast by Al Arabiya TV a short time ago.
Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), said, last week, that the world witnessed the lowest number of deaths due to corona since the early days of the pandemic.
But Ghebreyesus warned that the pandemic is still far from its end, adding, that transmission of infection is still very high, and vaccination coverage is still very low in many countries.
He stressed that the WHO has received only about 30% of the total requirements to fund the work to end the acute phase of the pandemic so it faces a deficit of $1.1 billion.
The WHO chief called on the international community to provide full and flexible funding so that the WHO can play its global role in addressing the pandemic.
