US Vice President JD Vance stated that the United States will judge Iran based on its actions, rather than its statements, throughout the negotiations.
"You can't trust anyone's words; you have to trust what they actually do," CBS News quoted Vance as saying.
Earlier, Vance noted that allowing nuclear inspectors to return to Iran represents a significant step, but he emphasized that the critical factor is the nature of the authority they will be granted upon their arrival in the country.
"Allowing inspectors in is highly critical, but we will see what they are actually permitted to do once they are on the ground, and that will remain a fundamental part of our negotiations," Vance added.
He explained that the US administration's stance is not about trusting or distrusting Iranian officials, but rather about verifying their commitments on the ground.
Vance concluded: "What President Trump has asked us to do is verify what they are doing and focus much less on what they are saying."
