U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance reaffirmed that the United States aims to secure lasting peace in Ukraine during his first meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Munich.
According to Alhurra TV, Vance stated on Saturday at the Munich Security Conference that he had a productive discussion with Zelenskyy on ways to achieve this goal. He added that further discussions would take place in the coming days, weeks, and months.
For his part, President Zelenskyy warned that Ukraine’s ability to withstand the Russian invasion would be significantly weakened without U.S. support. He emphasized, "We are ready to move as quickly as possible toward a real and guaranteed peace."
Ukraine Grants U.S. Access to Natural Resources in Exchange for Support
In a related development, Ukraine has agreed to provide the U.S. with a draft proposal allowing Washington access to Ukrainian natural resources in exchange for continued American aid.
This comes after U.S. President Donald Trump previously stated that he wanted to negotiate an agreement with Ukraine, ensuring U.S. access to Ukraine’s rare minerals as a condition for ongoing American support.
