The United States has appealed to China for assistance in curbing Houthi group attacks in the Red Sea, without receiving any response from Beijing for over three months, according to sources.

Financial Times reported on Wednesday that U.S. officials have stated that the United States asked China to urge Iran to restrain the Houthi rebels who have been attacking commercial vessels in the Red Sea.

However, there has been no significant indication of assistance from Beijing.

The report mentioned that the United States has raised the matter repeatedly with senior Chinese officials over the past three months.

Meanwhile, the United States and the United Kingdom continue their efforts to counter Houthi attacks in a bid to prevent them from targeting ships in the Red Sea.

The Houthi rebels, who control densely populated areas in Yemen, claim that their attacks are in solidarity with Palestinians while Israel carries out airstrikes in Gaza.

These attacks have disrupted global navigation and heightened concerns that the repercussions of the conflict between Israel and Hamas could destabilize the Middle East.
