The United States has temporarily closed its embassy in Jerusalem due to security concerns, as military confrontations between Israel and Iran intensify.
The closure will last from Wednesday, 18 June, through Friday, 20 June, following directives from the Israel Home Front Command.
In a statement, the embassy urged all US government personnel and their families in Israel to remain within their residences or immediate surroundings until further notice.
The US State Department has also activated a special Middle East task force to support American citizens and diplomatic missions across the region. Department spokesperson Tamiyah Bruce reiterated Washington’s warning against travel to Iran and Iraq, citing ongoing instability and security risks.
