US State Department spokeswoman Hala Gharit revealed, in exclusive statements to Sky News Arabia, the behind-the-scenes agreement of representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), on a week-long ceasefire, and its monitoring mechanism.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia and the United States of America (USA), sponsors of the peace talks held in Jeddah, announced that the ceasefire would enter into force on Monday evening.
"Gharit" specified the details of the agreement between the two parties to the conflict in several points, including:
Representatives of the SAF and the RSF confirmed, in Jeddah, the agreement comprises humanitarian arrangements and a short-term ceasefire, to be implemented 48 hours after signing and last for 7 days, extendable.
The agreement also includes facilitating the distribution of humanitarian aid and restoring basic services, in addition to withdrawing forces from government facilities and facilitating the passage of humanitarian aid.
The current agreement is characterized by the existence of a US-Saudi-international monitoring mechanism.
