The US State Department spokesperson, Tommy Pigott, stated that the framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon marks the beginning of a path toward peace and stability in the Middle East.
In a statement to Al-Arabiya Al-Hadath news channel on Saturday, Pigott described the agreement between Israel and Lebanon as "historic," considering that it will end the threat posed by Hezbollah to Israel and pave the way for long-term peace.
The US spokesperson added that this agreement will restore sovereignty to the Lebanese state and security to Israel, noting that achieving peace in the region requires further efforts and intensive work.
It is worth noting that Lebanon and Israel signed a framework agreement on Friday, following several days of negotiations in the US capital, Washington.
The step has been described as paving the way for a new path between both sides, while emphasizing that the agreement represents the beginning of a phase that requires more work to resolve outstanding issues.
