According to the military leaders of both nations, the US-South Korean alliance is getting "stronger than ever," with the two allies prepared to revise strategic planning guidance to prevent North Korean military threats, according to THE EPOCH TIMES.
In a meeting held in Seoul on Thursday, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and his South Korean counterpart Suh Wook accepted the new strategic planning guidance, which reflects changes in the strategic environment.
The two commanders pledged to "strengthen the alliance's deterrence posture by exploiting all available alliance assets, including cyber and space capabilities," and agreed to revise operation plans in response to security concerns on the Korean Peninsula.
"While the Strategic Planning Guidance from 2010 is still effective," Austin told reporters, "we've shared the need for a new war plan that can reflect evolving threats from North Korea, changes from our own defence reform and a combined command structure, as well as the overall strategic environment."
