On Friday, the members of the UN Security Council paid tribute to the victims of the Israeli strikes on Gaza as the council members stood in silence to honor those affected by the latest escalations.
The UN Security Council met again on Friday to discuss the developments of the situation in Gaza.
WHO Director-General Tedros said: “In Gaza, nowhere and no one is safe," wondering: "Imagine...imagine that you’re trapped in that situation."
"That’s why we’re asking for a ceasefire and unfettered humanitarian access," he added. "And at the same time, of course, we’re also asking for the Security Council to do everything for the release of hostages.”
Permanent Observer of the observer State of Palestine Riyad Mansour urged the council to “stop the massacre; stop it now”.
“The General Assembly resolution must be implemented; the Security Council must echo its calls,” he added.
“Don’t let another day pass negotiating how many dozens trucks will enter; they need to enter every day by the hundreds and the thousands,” he said.
“The voice of the humanitarian agencies needs to be heard, the screams of our people need to be heard and the bombs need to be silenced. Now, not later.”
