US Department of State announced on Sunday that Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in Washington to discuss the trilateral framework amidst an unstable ceasefire with Iran.
US Department of State Spokesperson Tommy Pigott stated in a declaration: " Rubio commended the courage of the Lebanese government, under the leadership of President Aoun, for its steadfast efforts to restore Lebanon's sovereignty, disarm Hezbollah, dismantle its infrastructure, and move forward toward achieving peace.
Moreover, U.S. Secretary reaffirmed the United States' commitment to supporting the successful implementation of the trilateral framework."
For his part, Aoun announced that a Lebanese-American summit will be held at the White House.
