On Tuesday, US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken offered his Ramadan Kareem greetings to the global Muslim community, against the backdrop of ongoing conflicts affecting Muslims in various regions.

As the sacred month of Ramadan begins, Secretary Blinken reached out to the estimated 1.8 billion Muslims worldwide, observing that this year's Ramadan is marked by particular solemnity due to the strife experienced by Muslims in areas like Xinjiang, Burma, Bangladesh, and Gaza.

Highlighting the stark contrast between the season's peace and the prevailing conflicts, Blinken stated, "This year, Ramadan is shadowed by the trials faced by our Muslim brothers and sisters across the globe." He emphasized the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, expressing heartbreak and affirming the U.S.'s commitment to providing aid and striving for an enduring ceasefire and peace.

The Secretary underscored the U.S.'s dedication to fostering a two-state solution, advocating for mutual freedom, dignity, security, and prosperity for Palestinians and Israelis alike. He conveyed the urgency of achieving peace, deeming it both possible and essential.

Blinken also acknowledged the observance of Ramadan by many Americans, including those in diplomatic circles, using the occasion to celebrate the nation's religious diversity and the vital principle of religious freedom, both domestically and internationally.

In his closing remarks, Blinken wished all those observing Ramadan a blessed month, saying, "As you come together with loved ones to reflect and set intentions, I wish you a truly meaningful Ramadan Kareem." His message reflects a deep respect for religious observance and a hopeful stance towards resolving global conflicts.
