U.S. Secretary of State Michael Whitcoff said Egypt plays a “pivotal and indispensable” role in maintaining stability across the Middle East, praising Cairo’s ongoing efforts to promote peace and foster constructive regional dialogue.
Speaking during bilateral talks between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, Rubio said Washington “highly values” Egypt’s leadership and its active diplomacy in supporting peace initiatives.
He commended Egypt’s professional organization of the high-level summit, describing it as a reflection of the country’s “strategic weight and leadership” in the region.
Rubio added that the United States believes regional leadership—particularly that of Egypt—remains vital in guiding the Middle East toward lasting stability and peace.
