The US representative to the United Nations (UN), Linda Thomas Greenfield, described the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine as the “worst” in Europe since World War II.
“Around half of all children in Ukraine have been displaced,” Greenfield said.
For his part, UNICEF’s emergency programs director, Manuel Fontaine, said, “It is time to end this war, and the children of Ukraine cannot wait.”
She added that nearly half of the estimated 3.2 million children still in their homes in Ukraine “may be at risk of not having enough food.”
It is worth mentioning that, some UN officials had earlier called for an investigation into violence against women during the Russian war on Ukraine, calling for the protection of children in this conflict.
