The US Department of State announced that it has been decided to exempt all migrants and fiancés applying for a visa to the United States from regional travel restrictions currently in effect due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The decision comes in line with the State Department’s commitment to facilitate legitimate travel to the United States.
US Department of State spokesperson Ned Price, announced that Secretary of State Antony Blinken decided, on Thursday, to exempt all immigrants and fiancés applying for a visa to the United States from the regional travel restrictions currently in effect due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Price called on applicants who apply for a migrant or engagement visa in a country affected by the COVID-19 visa restriction and who believe they may fall under these exceptions to check the website of the closest US embassy or consulate to determine their next steps.
After assuming the presidency, US President Joe Biden suspended the work of several measures that his predecessor, Donald Trump had imposed in the framework of managing the immigration file. However, several parties have appealed against Biden’s decisions, especially the Republican authorities in the state of Texas.
