US Researcher: Egypt Plays Key Leadership Role in Region

Professor Ellie Gould, head of Gold Research Center in Washington, and a researcher in Arab-US relations confirmed on Saturday that Egypt plays an important leadership role. 

In exclusive remarks to a local newspaper, Gould added that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's active participation in regional and international forums, over the past nine years has established Egypt's pivotal position, and its leadership role.

Moreover, he affirmed that President Sisi's participation is necessary in any meeting or initiative affecting global or regional security, as it is the largest and oldest country in the region.

Regarding "Jeddah Security and Development" summit, he said that it represents a great opportunity to discuss regional security relations, and important issues foremost of which, the Palestinian issue cause.

It is worth mentioing that, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi delivered a speech during the Jeddah Summit for Security and Development, held in Saudi Arabia, during which he tackled a number of regional and international issues.

President Sisi’s speech is considered a roadmap for the future and the present of the region. it was a strong word that came in line with the constants of the Egyptian state.

During his speech, Sisi called for reformulating laws that preserve water security, stressing the importance of supporting every effort that would develop cooperation and persify partnerships to confront the food and energy crises.

Moreover, the Egyptian president said that the Jeddah summit is held at an exceptional moment in the history of the world and the Arab region, as it has a clear political connotation.

He stressed Egypt’s commitment to combating terrorism and extremism in all its forms, pointing out that Egypt will remain an essential partner of the United States in the region.

Sisi also reviewed a five-point approach to confront the region’s crises, the first of which is the establishment of a Palestinian state living side by side with the State of Israel, which will open prospects for peace and stability in the region, in addition to intensifying joint efforts for reaching a final and irreversible solution to the peace process.
