US Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar said that she will not attend the speech that Israeli President Isaac Herzog will deliver before both houses of the US Congress next week.

"There is no way in hell I am attending the joint session address from a President whose country has banned me and denied RashidaTlaib the ability to see her grandma" Ilhan said.

She referred to a 2019 decision not to allow her and RashidaTlaib to enter Israel under a law that allows the government to deny entry to advocates of boycotting Israel.

The United States can and should use its diplomatic tools to engage the Israeli government, but giving the current government the honor of a joint speech sends the wrong signal at the wrong time," she added.

Herzog is scheduled to deliver a speech in the House of Representatives and the Senate next Wednesday, as well as meet US President Joe Biden at the White House.
