US President Joe Biden said Thursday morning that the world is praying for Ukraine, coinciding with the Russian President's announcement of the start of a military operation in Donbas.
"I am monitoring the situation from the White House and will speak to my counterparts in the Group of Seven today, Thursday," Biden said.
"President (Vladimir) Putin chose a premeditated war that will lead to massive loss of life and human suffering," Biden said in a statement.
"Only Russia is responsible for the death and destruction this attack will cause, and the world will hold Russia to account," he said.
On Thursday morning, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a military operation in Donbas, noting that "the confrontation between Russia and nationalist forces in Ukraine is inevitable."
Putin said that the leading countries of the "NATO" alliance support the neo-Nazis in Ukraine, adding that "Russia has no opportunity other than to defend itself, and will use it."
