US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden paid a visit to Maryland Hospital where injured troops in the Kabul Airport explosion are treated, Voice of America reported on Friday.

The White House: "Tonight, the president and first lady are visiting wounded warriors at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center."

The US President spent almost two hours at the hospital, however, the White House did not issue any further information regarding the visit.

In the same context, Biden and the First Lady paid a tribute to the 13 soldiers who were killed in the Kabul Airport explosion after their bodies were delivered to the US.

It is worthy to mention that two suicide bombers and gunmen attacked Kabul airport on Thursday, killing at least 60 Afghans and 12 U.S. service members.

The deadly blasts caused “total panic” in Kabul among Afghans who had thronged outside in the hope of fleeing to safety, away from the country’s new Taliban rulers.

A “number of US service members” were killed in the explosions, and others were wounded, Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby said.

Kirby added: “We also know that a number of Afghans fell victims to this heinous attack”. In addition, the number of U.S. casualties is expected to rise.

The Pentagon revealed that one explosion was at the Abbey Gate of Kabul airport, and at least one more blast hit the nearby Baron Hotel.
