The US administration plans to impose new sanctions on Russia this week, after revealing the atrocities allegedly committed by Russian forces in the town of Bucha in Ukraine.
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said the officials are already coordinating with allies and partner countries on the new sanctions, but he did not provide further details on them.
Sullivan said when asked about a ban on the import of Russian oil and gas, that there were discussions with both the EU and member states about the "full scope of the sanctions".
The National Security Advisor stated that the ultimate goal is to reach a consensus on putting more pressure on Moscow.
The US United States and the EU had imposed a package of sanctions on Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine, which began on the twenty-fourth of last February.
