The United States is planning to withdraw all of its about 1,000 troops from Syria within the next two months, according to US media reports.

The reports indicate that Washington intends to end its military presence after the Syrian government consolidates control across the country and following a commitment by the Syrian Democratic Forces to integrate into state institutions.

The planned withdrawal follows the recent departure of US forces from several key bases, including Al Tanf near the Syrian Jordanian Iraqi border and Al Shaddadi Air Base in northeastern Syria. Both facilities were previously used by the US led international coalition in operations against Islamic State.

Once the withdrawal is complete, it will mark the end of nearly a decade of US military involvement in Syria, which began as part of the campaign to defeat ISIS and stabilize parts of the country.

Two US officials reportedly confirmed that American forces finalized their exit from the strategically located Al Tanf base and the Al Shaddadi facility earlier this month.
