The US State Department has ordered non-essential government personnel and their families to depart Bahrain and Jordan, one day after issuing a similar directive for staff in Iraq, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
In a post on X, the department said it had updated its travel advisories for Bahrain and Jordan to reflect the departure order for non-essential US government employees and their dependents.
The move follows heightened regional instability as conflict intensifies across the Middle East, prompting Washington to reassess the security environment for American personnel.
Separately, the US Embassy in Kuwait closed its doors Tuesday morning until further notice, citing regional tensions.
In an updated travel advisory for Iraq, the State Department confirmed that it had instructed non-essential US government employees to leave the country for security reasons.
