Russia has deployed 7,000 additional troops to its border with Ukraine, a senior US administration official said.
In the same context, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said that the US believes that a Russian attack against Ukraine could begin at any time, explaining that Russia will fabricate pretexts based on misleading information to justify its invasion of Ukraine.
"We support Ukraine in its investigation into the cyberattacks it has been subjected to," the spokesman noted, adding that the door remains open to diplomacy with Russia.
It is worth mentioning that Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky said that his country does not see any evidence of the withdrawal of Russian forces from the border, according to Al-Arabiya.
Earlier today, the U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, said that the United States has not seen any sign of the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine’s borders and that Moscow has been moving critical units closer to the area.
Russia said more of its forces surrounding Ukraine were withdrawing on Wednesday, but NATO said the troop buildup was continuing, questioning Moscow’s stated willingness to negotiate a solution to the crisis.
“There’s what Russia says and then there’s what Russia does. And we haven’t seen any pullback of its forces,” Blinken told MSNBC. “We continue to see critical units moving toward the border, not away from the border.”
