On Thursday, the US National Security Council said that the US is prepared to work in full coordination with Egypt, Jordan, Israel, and humanitarian organizations, to ensure the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the civilians in Gaza.

The US National Security Council Spokesperson Adrienne Watson said in an official statement: "We are prepared to work in full coordination with the Government of Israel, the Governments of Jordan and Egypt, the United Nations, and humanitarian organizations, to ensure that these important steps are implemented and result in a significant increase in humanitarian assistance reaching civilians in dire need throughout Gaza over the coming days and weeks."

He added that US welcomed the latest steps announced by the Israeli government including a commitment to open the Ashdod port, the Erez crossing.

Previously, the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, expressing Washington's dissatisfaction with the current situation. Blinken highlighted the United States' position that should there be no observable changes from Israel that align with U.S. expectations, a reevaluation of its policies towards the region might become inevitable.

The call for a ceasefire comes amidst escalating tensions and violence in Gaza, where a horrific attack on aid workers earlier this week marked a concerning escalation in the conflict. Blinken pointed out that such incidents must not recur, underlining the priority must be the protection of civilians and the security of relief teams operating in the area.
