A US military official announced on Friday that a ship caught fire in the Red Sea after it was hit by a projectile launched from the Yemeni coast.

According to American media, the official added that a ship flying the Liberian flag caught fire in the Red Sea after it was hit by a missile fired from Yemen.

In this context, the British maritime security company "Ambry" said that "a container ship flying the Liberian flag was damaged by an air attack 50 miles north of the Yemeni port of Mokha."

The British company added that the ship was sailing south through the Bab al-Mandab Strait when it was attacked by a projectile.

Earlier today, the British Maritime Trade Operations Authority reported that it had received reports of a small white boat boarding 10 people identifying themselves as Yemeni authorities and that they “ordered a ship to change its course towards Yemen.”
