US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken confirmed his country's pledge to do everything possible to compensate for the lack of weapons in Ukraine if Kyiv informs Washington of this.

Blinken said, according to the American (Al-Hurra) channel, that "the West did not provide the Ukrainian armed forces with enough armored vehicles to launch a counterattack," adding that work is taking place daily with Ukraine and with a coalition of countries to ensure that the Kyiv regime receives the necessary and sufficient support.

He indicated that if there is a shortage of weapons and ammunition, Kyiv will inform us immediately and we will do our best to replenish them.

On the other hand, Dmitry Polyansky, Russia's first deputy representative to the United Nations, announced an informal meeting of the UN Security Council, scheduled for May 18, on the issue of supplying Western weapons to Ukraine.

Polyansky also announced an informal meeting of the UN Security Council on the issue of persecution of representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Earlier, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said that Britain was supplying Ukraine with long-range "Storm Shadow" missiles sufficient to meet the needs of the Ukrainian army.
