The Spokesperson of the Secretary of State, Ned Price, announced on Twitter that the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, and the Secretary of Defense, Loloyd Austin, and the US Defense Minister, Kishi Rahm Emmanuel, will have a virtual meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister, Hayashi Yoshimasa, and the Japanese Defense Minister, Kishi Nbou, on January 6.

The statement added: "During the meeting, the delegations will discuss ways the United States and Japan can strengthen our alliance to promote a free and open Indo-Pacific region and to address the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis, and other global challenges."

In the same context, the Former Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, expressed early this month that Japan and the US will not stand silent in case China attacks Taiwan

During a virtual session for a research center: “The emergency in Taiwan is tantamount to an emergency in Japan, and therefore belongs to the Japan-US alliance,”
