U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his Italian counterpart Luigi Di Maio discussed during a meeting in Washington the importance of the full implementation of the ceasefire in Libya and the political unity in the country.
"The two ministers affirmed their support for the Libyan people's efforts to restore unity, hold national elections next December, and fully implement the ceasefire agreement," U.S. Secretary of State Spokesman Ned Price said in a statement.
Moreover, they renewed their firm support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. They also discussed the need for Russia to end its dangerous military buildup in Crimea and along the borders of Ukraine.
The two sides reaffirmed the common commitment to human rights and the lasting bonds of friendship and affection between the Italian and American peoples.
