U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, during his meeting with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, reaffirmed that the United States supports Israel’s right to defend itself, according to American media reports.
Both Austin and Gallant emphasized their commitment to deterring Iran and its partners in the region.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that the anticipated response to Iran's missile attacks "will be independent," hinting at the possibility of striking Tehran's nuclear targets.
In an interview with CNN, Gallant said that Israel is closely coordinating with the United States as it prepares to respond to Iran, but emphasized that Israel "will make its own independent decisions" regarding how to retaliate.
The Middle East is closely watching potential scenarios for the upcoming Israeli strike on Iran, in response to the recent missile attack launched by Iran on Israel.
