The United States has announced new sanctions against Iran in response to its ongoing nuclear escalation, according to a statement by Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday.
These measures come amid growing concerns over Iran's nuclear activities and its potential to develop nuclear weapons.
In his statement, Blinken noted that over the past month, Iran has taken steps to expand its nuclear program in a manner that does not indicate any credible peaceful intentions.
He emphasized that the US is committed to preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and is prepared to use all elements of its national power to ensure this commitment is achieved.
The newly imposed sanctions target three companies accused by the US of being involved in the transportation of Iranian oil or petrochemical products.
Additionally, 11 ships associated with these companies are also subject to the sanctions, Reuters reported.
Earlier this month, the G7 nations warned Iran against advancing its nuclear enrichment program and indicated their readiness to implement further measures if Iran transfers ballistic missiles to Russia.
