Early Wednesday, the US House of Representatives ousted its Speaker Kevin McCarthy to be the first US House Speaker to be ousted in history.

The result of the vote came as 216 for removing McCarthy to 210. McCarthy responded that he won't run for this position again, saying: "I believe I can continue to fight, but maybe in a different manner."

It is expected that the members of the House of Representatives will go without a leader for at least a week as the Republicans will have a meeting to discuss McCarthy's successor on October 10, with the voting to be held on October 11.

The voting to remove McCarthy was led by Matt Gaetz after the House's members disputed over the US debt bill to avoid partial government.

Gaetz said: "Kevin McCarthy is a creature of the swamp. He has risen to power by collecting special interest money and redistributing that money in exchange for favors. We are breaking the fever now."
