US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo affirmed that US is looking forward to enhancing and strengthening ties with Sudan.

On his Twitter account, Pompeo said that he spoke with the head of Sudan's Sovereign Council, Gen Abdel Fattah Al Burhan.

“We underscored our shared desire to improve Sudan’s active participation in the region and international communities, and to work towards a stronger, healthier US-Sudan bilateral relationship,” he tweeted.

It is worth mentioning that, Last November, US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Tibor Nagy, said that the US is no longer in conflict with the Sudanese government.

Moreover, Israel and Sudan agreed to normalize their relations, following a meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and El Burhan.

Netanyahu said that he discussed “normalization” of relations during his meeting with senior Sudanese politicians in Uganda. The Israeli premier said on his Twitter account that he had met with Burhan on Monday.

The meeting represented a major change in the relations between the two countries, which are theoretically at war.
