The talks held in Beijing between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his Chinese counterpart Chen Gang were 'Candid', 'substantive' and 'constructive', US Department of State spokesman Matthew Miller said in a statment.
Blinken stressed the importance of diplomacy between the two countries and maintaining open channels of communication on a full range of issues to reduce the risks of misunderstanding and miscalculation, according to the statment.
Moteover, US Secretary of State raised a number of issues of concern, as well as opportunities to explore cooperation on shared transnational issues with the PRC where our interests align.
Furthermore, Blinken emphasized that the United States will always defend the interests and values of the American people and will work with its allies and partners to advance its vision of a free and open world that supports the rules-based international order.
